Some people argue that logging and land clearing creates houses and jobs, but do you know the real danger created by habitat destruction in the Logan area. Huge problems from death of native wildlife to over population can cause huge damage to the environment of the Logan area. Habitat destruction is one of the worst things to do for our amazing environment, so we should protect Logan from this problem.
Logan village is an amazing place in south east QLD and has a population to around 308,681 people. Logan is also home to many native animals some safe some endangered from animals like the koala to magpie. This amazing place is home to many of the native fauna and flora which makes it an absolutely great place to go for a holiday. Logan village covers 957km2 and in that there are over 50 different suburbs eg. Jimboomba, Cedar Grove and Cedar Vale. This can be shown in source 1.0 witch is a map of the Logan area. It also shows comparison to the other regions in QLD. Logan is an amazing area with many bushes and a dry land, but do you know what is happening to the land. Death of animals because of the destruction of their homes and land is endangering native plants and animals destroying the Logan ecosystem.
These problems include things such as death, sickness and vulnerability.
Do you know the animals threatened by habitat destruction, and what it actually does to their health. Things such as logging and pollution can cause huge problems for the animals living in the
Logan area. These problems include things such as death, sickness, vulnerability to predators and damage to their ecosystem.
Animals such as the spotted-tailed quoll
And the koala are extremely vulnerable with these changes to the environment. Plants are also in danger, with many of the native plants being chopped down or getting poised by fertiliser from the near farms. With all these changes to our ecosystem all the plants and animals are in extreme danger. If we keep destroying habitats it could lead to the mass extinction of almost all the native animals. Would you believe houses cause damage
Housing estates create good living and nice land, but do you know the troubles for the environment. With housing estates and more people moving In, over population causes pollution to water, air, sound and earth. This also threatens the animals of the area, and can cause all types of animals in horrible positions. source 1.1 shows what can happen to the animals caught in these tragic events. As shown in source 1.1 horrific death is the most common thing to happen to the animals affected from the destruction of their homes. This is an absolutely horrible thing to happen, sure new houses and jobs which is good for us and all, but is it worth the lives and protection of our endangered wildlife in Logan. This is absolutely a horrible thing to do and is inhuman to the beautiful native ecosystem. I've talked about housing and animals but I haven't talked about how it truly affects the ecosystem.
With the destruction of habitat the ecosystem is affected more than you think. Things such as waterways can change and that can harm the animals that don't lose their homes to logging. Making the effect of logging and building cause more damage to the environment. Animals and plants needed to support the ecosystem are killed, destroying the ecosystem and leaving everything to die. If this happens we will eventually kill almost every important plant and animal in Logan. Dams and logging changes everything in the ecosystem, it changes how much water gets to trees and animals and how many trees there are left for the animals to live in. This changes so fast the animals are left helpless. We can help this we just need to find a solution.
Some people set their lives to help save our environment by stopping the destruction of some areas. So far the government has set rules with no logging in some areas and companies that help to repair the damage done. As well as websites that spread awareness and raise funds to help make more restricted logging or building area. Panda org is a wepsite that is spreading the awareness of habitat destruction and is making a real difference to our growing community. There are also rules that they have to release fresh water from dams so the environment gets enough water. With all these projects helping our environment lots of the animals that are affected can be helped before the problem even happens, but if it does we have companies that help the hurt and sick animals. Also keeps the ecosystem healthy by keeping the important plants and animals protected so they keep the ecosystem in tacked. We can all do something to help, so what will we do.
Stop it NOW!
If you were to help what would you do. I would try to convince people to think more of the problems around us including loss of habitat and our amazing environment. I believe that if we raise awareness and sign partitions for the government, they will agree to be more strict with acts that threaten the beautiful environment of Logan. If we do nothing Logan will lose everything that makes it iconic to Australia and slowly the world will follow. All we have to do is make a difference and consider the future. For if we don't we will lose all the native animals to Logan. Koalas, possums, birds and trees will all be lost this all starts from habitat destruction and it is our job to stop it NOW! Remember we make the decisions for the future of Logan.
In conclusion the destruction of habitats is a horrific thing to do and can cause damage to things such as trees, animals and all of the living things we need to sustain the beauty of Logan's unique ecosystem. Logging and land clearing are the main offenders of habitat destruction and are responsible for the horrible damages done to Logan. Remember all you have to do is spread the word and look out for any of these problems in your area. Habitat destruction is a horrible act and should be stopped immediately.
